Shalom! And Chag Semach! (Happy Feast)

Greeting the large group tonight which happens to be Shavuot Eve (Pentecost Eve).
What a moed!
Each of the three moeds on God’s redemptive calendar when Israel was to come up to Jerusalem has three qualifications.
It must commemorate a historical event.
It must be at a harvest time.
It must look forward to a fulfillment.

This feast is remarkable.

1. Historical Event – Receiving the Word on Mount Sinai
2. Harvest – The Wheat Harvest
3. Fulfillment – Acts 2 – The Day of Pentecost

It has always thrilled me that the Word and the Spirit came on the same date.

I don’t like mixing this political note with the high spiritual date that this is.
However, everything is really spiritual these days.

President Donald John Trump and party left the day we arrived.
The overall reaction in Israel is that they were pleased with his Middle East trip.
Quite a lot of the news centered on what he did not say.
He did not mention a two state solution. (A big plus.)
He did not mention the settlements. (A big plus.)

What he did say. White house press releases called the city Jerusalem, Israel.
Linking the city to Israel. This had not been done here-to-fore.
He was here at the 50th anniversary of the Reunification of Jerusalem.
One headline read: Trump celebrated Jerusalem.

The following front page story really excited me.

Monday, May 29, 2017
Inside an article which bore the headline:
UN slams Palestinians for naming center after murderer…

(Article points out changes in UN “Since Donald Trump became US President and Antonio Guterres became sect-general of the UN…)

…The UN statement was very much in sync with comments Trump made alongside Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem … when he said that peace “can never take root in an environment where violence is tolerated, funded or rewarded.”

That comment came after a reportedly super-charged meeting between Trump and Abbas in which the US President, according to a Channel 2 American source familiar with the meeting.

“You deceived me in Washington,” Trump reportedly screamed at Abbas, according to the report. Referring to the meeting they had earlier in the month in Washington, Trump said, “You spoke to me about peace, but the Israelis showed me that you personally have a hand in incitement.”

Could it be possible that our leaders are seeing things as they really are.
That Israel has no partner for peace.
That the PA speaks with fork-ed tongue!!!!

True, the President did not speak of moving the Embassy to Israel YET!!!
But as reported above, the signs are there.
And we are praying!!!
